Shawn Patrick Finnerty A little over a year ago, Shawn found his calling in the Leather Community and embarked upon a journey that he never expected to lead him to where he is today. He heard about a Bootblack clinic being held at the Eagle PDX being held by Northwest Community Bootblack 2004, Kelley Wilt. After attending the clinic and soaking up the wealth of knowledge his new friend had to share, Shawn knew that he too wanted to represent Bootblacks and the Leather Community just as Kelley did that day. Scared, a bit unsure and yet still determined, Shawn started at the bottom and quickly worked his way to the top... first locally, then regionally and now proudly serves as Mama's and your International Community Bootblack 2005. Parting WordsReflections Respectfully, I would like to start out by saying thank you to every person, organization, business, etc. that has made it possible for me to serve as International Community Boot Black 2005. Representing an entire community, whether it be locally, regionally, internationally or in my case, all three, is no easy task. However, I don't think there is a single titleholder out there, past or present, that would disagree that it is an honor and privilege to represent the community with such pride and stature. Teaching, learning and personal growth are only a few of the words that best describe the past year of my life. Not only as an International Boot Black titleholder in the Leather Community, but as a representative for Boot Blacks in other communities as well. Today I will step aside as International Community Boot Black 2005, but rest assured that my job here is nowhere near its completion. I am only stepping aside so that another great Boot Black may have the chance to follow their dream as I have had mine. International Community Boot Black 2006, whomever you may be, I bid you the best of luck in your upcoming year and leave you with one bit of advice... You have followed your dream, now follow your heart and you will have a truly amazing year! The people I have met this year have done a wonderful job of showing me what family, friendship and community truly mean. For this I will be forever grateful!
