Northwest Community Bootblack 2006

September 2001 - "Oh! So that’s what a beating is!" It was my first leaving marks and my aching for more. Embracing my leather identity, I have since found boot blacking feeds my detail-oriented inner geek and the joy of working with my hands. It’s a service that transcends gender, orientation and roles of power. It can be merely be a boot shine, a part time job or an act of worship; each with service, love and devotion to the boots, person and/or community. It’s been almost two years since I greased my way between people’s legs to work on their goods. Can you sense my focus as I hold your boots, studying and assessing their needs? Can you feel the delicate yet firm grip of my hand as I massage wax into the leather? As a boot black, I offer a valuable leather service, and I am excited to learn, grow and give back to our community. I look forward to the opportunity to serve as our NW Regional Community Boot Black. Long live your leathers!
