Mid Atlantic LeatherSIR 2009
Ky is an accomplished leather brother and community activist for over
10 years. He was born in Ohio and moved to Pennsylvania in 1999. Ky is
the current Road Captain for the Three Rivers Leather Club in Pittsburgh
where he has been a member since 2004. He is now actively involved in
the start up for the Steel City Bondage Club. Ky started a Leather &
Rubber Flea Market in Pittsburgh in 2008 which proved so successful that
he had to schedule another one in the first year. In the Cleveland area
he has volunteered at the St. Jude's bike-a-thon for kids and as a cook
for Muscular Dystrophy. He has also worked at the showing of the AIDS
Memorial Quilt and as hospice caretaker for our fallen brothers. Ky
remains very active in the Cleveland area volunteering as security for
the Cleveland Leather Awareness Weekend for the past 5 years.
Ky has attended several leather contests from Cleveland, Akron,
Washington D.C. (MAL) and New Orleans. He recently attended the
International Mr. Leather in Chicago where he was pinned by Mama to be
in her family (Mama's KY Gel). You can meet Ky at the Inferno in September.
He has also represented his titles at Baltimore Pride and Pittsburgh
Pride and continues to promote fund raising and judging contests in
the region. Ky will represent the Mid Atlantic region in October in
San Francisco for the International LeatherSIR/Leatherboy contest.
Ky has a determined commitment to the leather brotherhood and his
community service activities. He very much likes to collect bar
and club pins from his travels around the globe.
Ky, with his endless supply of Tigger-like energy, has been involved
in a variety of fund raising activities for over 10 years. Ky met
his partner, Michael, in 2001 while both were volunteering for the
Shepherd Wellness Community - an AIDS service agency. Ky created
the first Flea Market for the Shepherd Wellness Community raising
over $13,000 for underfunded services. As a massage therapist, he
has also volunteered his services at the Southwestern Pennsylvania
AIDS Healing Weekend for the past 5 years. Both Ky and Michael have
been actively involved in the AIDS epidemic for many years, participating
in many AIDS Walks and volunteering at the Pittsburgh AIDS Task Force.
Ky's goal is to start an AIDS bike-a-thon here in Pittsburgh. It's
in the beginning stages and hopefully it will be up and running before 2010.
Ky is also very active in the GLBT community volunteering the past 9
years at OUTrageous Bingo to raise funds for the Pittsburgh Gay & Lesbian
Community Center and the Shepherd Wellness Community. He has
applied his strength to building playgrounds through his community
service at Home Depot and partnership with KABOOMTM.
Ky is an "Associate of the Year" award winner at Home Depot. Ky has
also been active with the Morningside Area Community Council in
his neighborhood for the past 6 years.
On a personal note, Ky also enjoys camping, custom making leather
items and especially teaching flogging and bondage techniques to
our new brothers and sisters in the leather community and so much
more fun.
