As I flew in to Chicago along with the Arctic blast of freezing temperatures, things heated up very quickly. I stepped out of the taxi and saw two hot Leathermen checking in. After a little conversation, an offer for beers in their room was extended. Evidently, a previous titleholder was used in a reference to their fun. You Go, boy ivan! It was a great start to the beginning of a Chicago weekend.

There were four of us sharing a room together, which made for a lot of fun, and a lot of "good night john boy’s" while trying to get to bed at 5 AM each morning. Getting ready for the events, reminded me of a cross between the "backroom" in any leather bar and a "Lucy" episode, but we all managed somehow to get ready. As we made our way by Van, taxi and boot, we arrived at the Cell Block for the "meet and greet". The Cell Block brought back memories for all of us. It was great that the new owner, Herb, has brought Leather back to the bar. The place was so packed; you couldn’t help but getting personal with every one that went through. There was a lot of IML, CLAW, and ILSb presence, with everyone supporting the community and the contestants. One of the great joys was being able to spend time with my International LeatherSIR, Sir Dexter Edmond. He is a great SIR and our friendship goes back before the ILSb contest, as well as it seems his "friendship" with every boy in the bar. There should be another Leather titleholder for just keeping all those other boys away from my SIR. - lol.

As the night progressed, we got to meet a lot of the local leathermen. George made sure we had a good time, always being the great stud, that he is. Sir Dexter and I were able to spend time with Dave Rhodes, Mr. Marcus, Chuck Renslow, and even the witty Jon Kronguard. Later, many of us found our way to the Chicago Eagle and with Ms. Jessi Holman-Ahart’s help, we managed to close down the bar. We were starved by the time we got back to the motel, fortunately, Mr. Marcus’, favorite feeding frenzy establishment, "White Castle" was next door to refresh our appetites. Is the sun coming up... already???

On Saturday, our foursome headed to the Leather Archives & Museum for the Pantheon of Leather Community Services Awards. If you have never been or had a tour of the LA&M, it is well worth the trip "and funding". We made a game of finding all of the pictures of Mark Frazier... maybe one of these days, I will grow up and look just like him. The LA&M auditorium was filled with history, both on the walls and of the men and women that attended. Many surprised and speechless recipients, and that’s not an easy task considering the people that were there. Congratulations to all the nominees and all of the people that work behind the scenes that bring our community together and support so many great activities. One of the most memorable moments for me at the Leather Archives was to see my new International LeatherSIR, receive his sash from Sir Robert Davis with Master Zuhl, and Sir Molnar in attendance.

There was a great party at Touché for the recipients and the place of the Mr. Saliva Contest... don’t ask, if you don’t know, but I bet Jim Drew could fill you in. A small group of us we were able to enjoy a great Italian dinner in the company of Master Mike Zuhl, who managed to fly in, even under extreme pain, and no, he’s not a masochist. Along with Michael Egdes, Sir Robert Davis, Sir Lou, Sir Dexter, boy ed, Mr. Marcus, Lincoln Calcavecchi and his partner Todd; we had a great dinner. Mr. Marcus had me eating from his plate, and any one else’s plate I could get a hold of. I am a growing boy.

After a few errands for me back at the hotel, I met up with our group at the Cell Block for the contest. What a great night. The smell of Leather and men were everywhere. Daddy Philip asked Sir and I if we could come backstage. We had the opportunity to spend time with the contestants and have a few laughs. Whoever said, "Leather is Dead"? They are wrong. There was a great diversity in the contestants, and each shared a vision of a Leather community working together. The time seemed to fly, and before you knew it, it was after midnight and the contest was ending. Congratulations to all of the contestants. I know it is not easy being on stage, however with the help of the ever witty and handsome emcee, Frank Nowicki and contest Daddy, Philip; I think all of the contestants were able to enjoy and grow from their experience. I know I sure did, when it came to the fantasies.
