Northern California LeatherSIR / Leatherboy 2006 Contest Results

Aug 02, 2006, San Francisco, CA - The Northern California LeatherSIR/Leatherboy 2006 contest was a momentous success after being away for 5 years. Just like the Rising of the Phoenix Out of the Ashes, the Northern California Regional LeatherSIR/Leatherboy Contest was brought back here to stay in San Francisco by Jay Hemphill and Michael Holeman, and is stronger and healthier than ever!

This past weekend also happened to be Dore Alley/Up Your Alley Weekend, and San Francisco was jumping all weekend.

The Host Hotel was the Renoir Hotel, and the elevators were loaded with Leathermen. After a meeting at the Renoir with the producers, staff, and contestants at 8:00 PM, the contestants and judges went to the San Francisco Leather Daddy XXIV Contest at the SF Eagle, escorted by one of the No. CA Regional Sponsors, Jay Hemphill. Sir Dexter, International LeatherSIR and boy Stallion, International Leatherboy, were brought up on stage, introduced by Jay, and spoke to the audience. Regional Contestants Sir Tom Pupp, Sir Tim Matheny, boy Mark, and boy Matthew were also in attendance. Jay and Michael provided shuttle vans for the entire weekend to get everyone to the different venues.

On Saturday morning, the judges, producers, and staff met at 8:00 AM for breakfast in the Host Hotel, and then went up to the interview room to prepare for the pre-judging interviews. The contestants waited nervously in another room with the Contestant Coordinator, Darryl Jansson, Mr. Hayes Valley Leather 2004, to be called for their interview.

The shuttle vans were waiting downstairs at 12:45 PM to take the staff, performers and contestants to the DNA Lounge, a fabulous nightclub, for rehearsal, then the contest after. Rehearsal lasted until 3:00 PM, and then the doors opened to the public. The public arriving to see a brilliant, state of the art, light show and sound show.

At 4:00 PM sharp, the opening ceremonies began. Mark Palladini, welcomed everyone and asked the audience to rise for the entrance of the Color Guard, and the singing of the National Anthem. The San Francisco Boots and Breeches Corps Color Guard, carrying the flags, came down the high steps on each side of the stage to the stage, and TJ Istvan sang the National Anthem live. Following the National Anthem, the stage lights dimmed and then Snatch, the Thigh High Leather XXXV Empress of San Francisco came on the stage with her hot, muscular slave and performed the opening number, which was spectacular, and all eyes were glued to the stage.

Then the contest itself got underway. The emcees, Doug Mezzacopa and Scott Brogan, were introduced. They welcomed everyone, made several announcements, one about the International LeatherSIR / Leatherboy Contest in Dallas in October. The lights dimmed and then the highly muscled SOMA Past and Present Bare Chest Calendar Men were introduced as they came down the steps on the stage and stopped. What a sight! The contestants then came onto the stage for the first time and were introduced, as the emcees discussed their bios and assets. (One of the contestants is 6’ 9”). Then the judges, Mama Sandy Reinhardt, International LeatherSIR Dexter Edmond, International Leatherboy Mike “Stallion” Fry, Roger Gregg, David McCammon, Sir Mike Kelly, and Master Richard Sprott were introduced on stage, as well as Mike Zuhl. Glen Tanking, Mr. Daddy’s Leather2003, was the judges’ Coordinator.

With the SOMA Bare Chest Calendar Men being used as live, hot scenery, the #1 Sir and boy came out in formal wear. And presented their speeches. One speech was a poem, and was very intense, bringing the audience to their feet clapping and giving loud applause. Next was the Fantasy Scene of Sir/boy #2. The Bare Chest Calendar men as scenery on each side of the Fantasy scene, still on the steps, made the really hot Fantasy Scene even hotter!

Next came the Sir/boy #1 physique part. The next performer, Phillip came on stage and sang “It’s Raining Men” live, as water started to lightly come down from above. One by one the contests went off the stage, as did the calendar men. No one wanted to see them leave!

The Emcees came back on stage, introduced VIP’S in the audience, made announcements of the many, many events going on this Dore Alley Weekend, and introduced the current and past Titleholders in attendance. Then, it was time for the #2 Sir/boys to come out in formal wear, and then give their speeches. Next, out came the Sir/boys #2 in the physique portion, and the Emcees let the audience know about their vital statistics and info about the two contestant’s fetishes.

After another intermission, the time had come to present the 1st annual Omar J. Moseley Award. Omar was 1995 Northern California Regional Mr. Drummer and died in December, 2005. The person to receive the award is a teacher, mentor, and sexual man who best exemplifies the Spirit of Drummer. Selected to receive the first annual award was Andre J. English, SF Leather Daddy XVII, a prominent member of the SF Leather Community, a man who is loved and respected in San Francisco. His roommate, Don Ho Tse, then came on stage with Omar’s Title Vest from 1995, and presented it to Jay Hemphill and Michael Holeman, who are representing the Leather Archives & Museum. After accepting it, Jay and Michael are preparing it for safe shipment to the LA&M.

After a 10 minute intromission, everyone was welcomed back, and then Phillip Evans came back to sing, “I Love Muscles.” (The Northern California Regional LSLb Contest has Muscles, Masculinity, and Motorcycles as the Regional Theme.)

The outgoing Regional Sir, Mike Kelly, gave his step-aside speech, which really came from the heart.

Next, Jay and Michael, the Regional Sponsors, gave their thanks and acknowledgements to the many people who in some way helped with this contest. There were also two special Leathermen here this weekend. One was Tug Taylor and his cub, brian. We were thrilled to see him looking so well. The other person was boy gabe Rosman, who came because he wanted to be here to show support for the Northern California Regional Contest. He was so much help with last minute things and he worked very hard this weekend, and it is really appreciated by Jay and Michael! Boy gabe, thank you so much.

All the contestants came out on the stage in physique wear, showed off their bodies, and then went to the dressing room to change back into formal wear.

As they returned, the big moment had arrived and the envelopes were opened. The winner of the Northern California Regional LeatherSIR is hot, hunky 6’ 9” Tim Matheny, from the Russian River city of Guerneville. The hot and handsome winner of the Northern California Regional Leatherboy title is Matthew Masterson. Both men are wished good luck at the International Contest. Jay and Michael are real proud of the job that all of their contestants did. Now, on to Dallas.
