Aug 22, 2006, Wichita, KS - August 17-20 saw leatherfolk from across the US converge in Wichita, Kansas for Leather Camp II which is the Wichita Organization of Leather Fetishes (WOOLF)'s annual Leather Pride event, which also hosted the Great Plains LeatherSIR, Leatherboy, and Community Bootblack competition.

The event started started as usual: the TSA delayed John Pendal's arrival for kickoff festivities. Nevertheless, the Thursday evening celebration was enjoyed by all at the host bar, The OtherSide. (despite our government's best job, John DID make it to Wichita that evening!)

Friday was a flurry of activity as the host club, Wichita Organization Of Leather Fetishes, prepared the vendor market, registration booth, and ball room for the weekend's events. Vendors included Lifestyle Sewing, Las Vegas Video, Positive Directions, Prophets Toybag, The Leather Shop, Toys Toys, Bearhide Creations, and Seb's Place. Shuttle service transported folks to The OtherSide, the local levi/leather/bear bar, for the contest Meet and Greet. Returning emcee Tom Stice moved the event along as dignitaries such as Mary Elizabeth Boyd, Lori Ellison, and Karen Ultradomme challenged folks to compete for the event in the future. After the Meet and Greet, some folks played at the local dungeon, Seb's Place, while others stayed to visit with Mama Sandy Reinhardt and catch up on gossip.

Saturday was a day FULL of activities. Six classes, all held at the host hotel, The Broadview, were on the slate, as well as shopping time in the Vendor's Market, a fantastic banquet, and the Pride Show and Contest. For those with classroom interests, instructors Jay Wiseman, Bill Reed, Lori Ellison, Mike Zuhl, Tom Stice, Karen Ultradomme, and John Pendal provided information on topics such as Unarmed BDSM, BDSM blunders, and BDSM vs Abuse. Old Guard/New Guard class and You Hit Like a girl were also taught. Cigar fetishists had the opportunity to attend a Cigar smoker in the hotel bar while a boy/girl party was being held poolside. The evening's annual banquet, A Taste of Leather, allowed the hotel staff to show THEIR true colors by providing excellent tableside service to nearly 100 hungry leatherfolk.

After Sir Richard and slave vanessa were given the Leather Pride Award, other charitable donations were presented. The Breast Cancer Emergency Fund and Positive Directions both received checks from local fundraising in Wichita by WOOLF.

When all the glasses and plates were cleared, the Leather Pride Show and Contest commenced. LeatherSIR Mister C, Leatherboy boy John Tovar, and Community Bootblack girl merrie, will be representing the Great Plains region at ILSb in October. merrie worked her tail off at the bootblack stand in the Vendor Market! Mike Zuhl, Mary Elizabeth, outgoing bootblack Fuzzybuns, and other ILSb personel, showed enormous support for the new titleholders. Judges for the weekend included Dexter Edmond, Cody Patton, Randy Wheeler, Lori Ellison, Mama Sandy, and Karen Ultradomme. Bootblack judges were Spanky, Ryan Setzkorn, and Mark Beckler. Incidentally, Fuzzybuns step-aside speech was less than 60 seconds, a new Wichita record.

The weekend ended with a poolside party as WOOLF celebrated their fourth birthday on Sunday. Plans are already underway for the 5th birthday and Pride Celebration to be held August 16-19, 2007.
