Mar 25, 2007, Philadelphia - In the birthplace of the nation, where brave men fought for freedom and equality with brains and brawn, a new battle is set to begin July 4th weekend. The battle for the 2008 Mid-Atlantic LeatherSIR and leatherboy titles will take place July 4th-6th in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Following in the tradition of the International Mr. Drummer and drummerboy competitions, the International LeatherSIR / Leatherboy titles are known for their focus on the kink and play, as well as education and activism. Each Regional competition, feeders to the International LeatherSIR / Leatherboy Competition, is assigned a theme. This year, the Mid-Atlantic Regional theme is ‘Discipline’.

DISCIPLINE.

  1. Training to act in accordance with rules; drill: military discipline.
  2. Activity, exercise, or a regimen that develops or improves a skill; training.
  3. Punishment inflicted by way of correction and training.
  4. The rigor or training effect of experience, adversity, etc
  5. Behavior in accord with rules of conduct; behavior and order maintained by training and control.
  6. An instrument of punishment, esp. a whip or scourge, used in the practice of self-mortification or as an instrument of chastisement in certain religious communities.

Contestants create an on-stage fantasy based on this theme as part of their overall competition. Any individual who is "legally male" and "self identifies as gay male" can enter the regional feeder contest for the "International LeatherSIR / Leatherboy" titles. The Mid-Atlantic LeatherSIR / Leatherboy competition is open to anyone living within the states of Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, Washington, D.C., and West Virginia, and participation does not depend on any local feeder competitions, though individual states may send representatives.

Winners of the Mid-Atlantic LeatherSIR / Leatherboy competition will advance to the International LeatherSIR / Leatherboy Competition taking place on October 9th-12th in San Francisco, California .

Friday, 4 July 2008
4:00pm Optional Private Leather tour of the Eastern State Penitientiary ($7.50 per person)
10:00 Fire Works/Meet and Greet at Penns Landing
11:00 Formal Judges/Contestant Introduction at The Bike Stop

Saturday, 5 July 2008
6:00pm-8:00pm Mid-Atlantic LeatherSIR / Leatherboy 2008 Competition at The Bike Stop
*15 Donation for Travel Fund
10:00pm- Victory Party/Red White and Leather #3 Party at The Bike Stop

Sunday, 6 July 2008
2:00pm Closing Victory Reception at The Bike Stop
