May 1, 2009, Phoenix, AZ - On Saturday, March 7, 2009, a panel of seven judges selected boy Jason as the new Southwest Leatherboy for 2009, Eli as the new Southwest Ms. Leather 2009, there was one contestant for Southwest LeatherSIR but not qualify for the title due to not making enough points to secure the title at this time. The contest was held at Bunkhouse Saloon during the Southwest Leather Pride 2009 weekend. This year's events were produced by Keith Tomlinson and Don Hilton. The judges for this year's contest were Lauren Ide Ms International Leather 2007, International Leatherboy 2008 boy bil hoeppner, International LeatherSIR 2008 Raul Mendez, Hobbit Ms International Leather 2008, Master Mike Zuhl, Whip Master Bob and Southwest LeatherSIR 2008 Doug. In addition to the "regular" duties of these titleholders (fundraising, attending leather events and contests, judging, representing the community), they will also be ambassadors for the Southwest portion of the United States. Southwest Leather Pride Weekend is a celebration of the bond of Leather families. It is a weekend filled with great energy and camaraderie which surround the weekend and our leather groups and clubs and businesses. Southwest Leather Pride 2009 included the Button Fly & Cigar Party at Apollo’s, The Dirty Secret Black Party at Velocity, the Southwest LeatherSIR/boy contests & Southwest Ms. Leather contest at the Bunkhouse Saloon, Leather Brunch at the Cherry Bar. The Flex provided play parties through out the weekend for all the attendees of the weekend. The Arizona Women of Leather a Women's Play party at Fetish Alive. This years Bob Dejardine Leather Pride Award was awarded to Apollo’s Bar for there overwhelming support to the leather community in Phoenix. Weekend Sponsors included Miller Lite, My Mothers Restaurant, Tuff Stuff Leather, Fetish Alive, Apollo’s, Cherry Bar, Bunkhouse Saloon, Velocity, and the Days Inn on Camelback.
