Jun 21, 2007, Chicago, IL — The Illinois LeatherSIR and Leatherboy contest blew into the windy city on Friday June 15 and did not end till the early morning hours of June 17. It was a devastating storm that left its mark on the Jackhammer bar in the Rogers park neighborhood.

The storm started Friday night with a meet and greet and a fundraiser benefiting the 2007 winners travel fund. The Windy City Boys Troop helped in hosting this event and it was a nice success. The group sold draft beer in the Hole at Jackhammer with all proceeds going to the travel fund. Also part of the door charge for a portion of the night was generously donated to the travel fund. Saturday the storm intensified as there were 6 contestants, 3 competing for the Illinois LeatherSIR title and 3 competing for the Illinois Leatherboy title. The contestants for Leather Sir were: Wess Aldridge, Josh Beier and Rob Welcher. The leather boy contestants were: boy Joe Alegrett, boy Dan Banjavic and boy Joe Sailo. The Judges for the event where Great Lakes LeatherSIR 2007 Sir Joee Arteaga Jr., Illinois Leatherboy 2006 boy Chris, Indiana Leatherboy 2006 boy Isaac, Mistress Simone Worthington of Michigan as well as the Chicago Leather Kennel Club president Adrian Williams. Talley Master for the event was Sir Bill Christiansen, Great Lakes Handler 2006. The judges boy was Marc Arendt, Den Daddy was Doug O’keeffe who is the current International Mr. Saliva and the Master of Ceremonies for the night was Chicago’s very own Tom Stice. Tom kept the audience on their feet and loved poking fun at the judges all night long.

Throughout the night, the Windy City Boys Troop did a fundraiser for the National Coalition for Sexual Freedom. Master Z. of Chicago gave a short talk about the organization and reminded the crowd how important their sexual freedom is. The contest was very entertaining and moved along quickly. The Fantasies for the night where well done, from wax play, rope bondage to a suspension scene with piercings they all kept the crowd watching and wondering what was next. While the scores where being tallied, Sir Don Leach and boy Phil Redmond, the producers of the contest said some words of thanks. The then passed things over to boy Chris who said a few words about his past year and gave many thanks to the owner and staff of Jackhammer Chicago for all there help and support with the contest. He also thanked everyone who had assisted in making the contest a big success. Chris also welcomed the contest back to Chicago after a short absence and looked forward to having an even better time next year. Sir Joee said a few words and showed a DVD from his past year.

The storm began to pass and after all was said and done the scores where ready and Chicago welcomed its two newest title holders. The new 2007 Illinois LeatherSIR is Sir Rob Welcher and the 2007 Illinois Leatherboy is Joe “Bratty Boy” Alegrett. Illinois is part of the Great Lakes contest region and the contestants will now move on to the Great Lakes Leather weekend in Indianapolis, August 24-26 to compete for the Great Lakes Regional title.
